Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament David Gikaria was Monday morning charged at a Nakuru with the malicious damage of property valued at Sh7 million.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate David Kemei, the MP was charged that on June 6, 2015, at Naka, jointly with others not before court, he damaged the property belonging to ENSE Limited.
The prosecution told the court that the MP led protesters in destruction of a perimeter wall surrounding a 10-acre parcel of land owned by the company.
The lawmaker also faced charges of stealing more than 300 wheelbarrows and other items all valued at Sh2 million.
The MP denied the charges and was released on a Sh500,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.
